Maison Cheval Quancard

Cheval Quancard was founded in 1844 by Pierre Quancard. The company has been handed down generation to generation from father to son and is currently in the passionate hands of Roland Quancard

As a brand, Cheval Quancard is known for its careful and sustainable approach to winemaking. The brand is a frontrunner in Bordeaux.

Cuvée Clémence, the wine and the goddess, perfectly represents the benevolence and wisdom of the brand. According to Cheval Quancard, “Goddess of forgiveness, she is as delicate as she is unpredictable, and will transport you with an elegant blend of aromas and flavours, offering an authentic expression of the name.”

Cuvée Clémence label design
Creative Director Laure Campagné worked on the redesign of Cuvée Clémence. She says the goal of the design was to modernize their flagship wine without losing their brand identity.

“The label design of the Cuvée Clémence comes from the benevolence and wisdom that this cuvée provides,” she says. “This creation; with feminine, elegant, and gentle attributes; presents illuminations around the vine, sublimated by a technique of curved gilding perfectly and carefully implemented by printer Alliance Etiquettes, who knew how to finesse the foiling.”

“The project has allowed Cheval Quancard to revive its strong brand and bring the product to life, creating a beautiful association between the container and the content without losing the attention of their core consumers,” Laure says. “For me, the high printing quality allowed me to create a label exactly as I imagined, which has this unique effect and which highlights my work as a creative.”

Fasson Rustique Creme FSC
In Bordeaux, the Cuvée Clémence is an authentic wine, a great Cuvée of the Maison Cheval Quancard has been for many years. It comes from grapes hand-selected on the plot and aged in oak barrels, which gives it a flavor that is unique to Maison Cheval Quancard. For this label, Laure chose Fasson Rustique Crème FSC.

“Avery Dennisson's paper Rustique Creme, slightly tinted, keeps both the authenticity of the cuvée's identity, and highlights the color of the wine in its oak bottle. The Kurz 396 foil helped identify the elegance and tradition of Maison Cheval Quancard,” says Laure.

The cream, wood-free paper has a felt-marked finish, which gives it a nice natural tactility. In terms of texture, the uncoated, matte printing paper looks almost like fabric. With wet strength and fungicidal treatments, it’s an ideal choice for wine and spirits applications.

In terms of print performance, the paper is perfectly capable of taking a variety of finishing treatments including hot foil stamping, offset printing, and embossing. Made from FSC-certified paper, Rustique Creme is also a good choice for environmentally conscious brands.
