Famille Ravoire is an independent, family-owned business that specializes in wines from the Rhône Valley and Provence. Established in the heart of the Rhône Valley in the 16th century, the Ravoire family’s deep knowledge of and respect for the region goes into every bottle. 

“Famille Ravoire develops products with a story that focuses both on our identity and our emphasis on environmental preservation.” says Alexandra Parfus, Marketing and Development Manager at Famille Ravoire.

For their signature Olivier Ravoire range, the company wanted to emphasize the rich history of the generations of Ravoires who have lived among the vineyards in the region. In particular Captain Ravoire, a valiant knight who fought to defend the province in 1593. 

“We wished to pay tribute to the man of arms by naming our different wines using terms associated with knighthood.” explains Alexandra, referring to the wines Caparaçon (caparison), Hallebarde (halberd) and Armatura (armor). Along with their chivalours names, the label design for this range features the Famille Ravoire historical coat of arms, which displays the Knight’s helmet in the center of the shield.

Fasson® Cotton White paper, made from 100% cotton, was chosen to accentuate the regal label design. “With its thickness and unique grain, this paper is perfectly in line with our requirements and enhances the overall impression of our labels.” says Alexandra. “Moreover, the paper comes from ethical and responsible sources, which satisfies our CSR policy requirements.”

For two of their Provence wines, Famille Ravoire wanted to explore eco-design even further. 

“For the Cuvée des Lices and Esprit de Fanette ranges, in keeping with typical rosés de Provence codes, we reworked the packaging using streamlined, modern style labels that enhance the pale color of the wines.” explains Alexandra. 

“In parallel, we wanted to fully engage in an eco-design process for the packaging, with lighter bottles, shorter crown caps, and FSC© certified corks, cardboard, and labels.” says Alexandra, “So we opted for the rNaturel Blanc paper, which satisfied our environmental specifications as well as our aesthetic and marketing concerns.”

Along with selecting sustainable packaging materials, Famille Ravoire participates in the AD Circular recycling program to collect and return label liner waste. "In support of our CSR approach and policy, thanks to Avery Dennison, we are able to engage in the complete recycling of our glassines." says Alexandra. 

Blending a rich family history with a modern approach to sustainability, the new Famille Ravoire labels tell a story that resonates with everyone who picks up a bottle.
