This is part of a series of hypothetical brands that explore sustainable products and EcoDesign in the beauty industry.

Wild-harvested beauty products source ingredients from where they naturally grow. Also known as wildcraft or foraging, this method is used to gather fruit, flowers, seeds and other resources as the seasons change to ensure the living plant can continue to flourish.

By using plants that thrive in harsh conditions, such as humidity and intense sun,  wild-harvested products aim to bring their protective powers to your skin. They are based on the idea that ingredients grown in nutrient-dense soil will lead to nutrient-dense products.

The Ground Up is a wild-harvested skincare brand that is inspired by the beauty of nature and recognizes that the world beneath the surface is as fascinating as the one above.

Fractals in the label artwork unite the beauty and complexity of the natural world. A root system embossed on the label brings to mind deep resilience and nourishment. The flipped title invites the user to rotate the bottle, transforming the roots into sun-seeking branches.

Natural packaging materials were chosen to highlight the brand’s story and reduce post-use impact. The packaging composition is made up of glass vials, wooden caps, a vegetable fiber seal and a 100% cotton label.

The velvety, matte texture of Fasson® Cotton Extra White creates a highly tactile label that allows the delicate embossing to really pop. The unique paper, made from a byproduct of cotton production, redirects waste while providing a premium look and feel as well as wet strength and fungicidal properties.
